More than £1m has been given out in bonuses to civil servants at the CLG, according to Government figures. The figures released by the Conservatives showed nearly 500 people at the department shared the payout including 104 senior civil servants who received £686,000. Controversial bonuses of £19m were paid to staff in Revenue and Customs, the agency in charge of tax credits. A report outlining the figures said that bonus payments are only made to ‘those members of staff who are found to have made a significant contribution towards the achievement of the teams, and/or Department's objectives'.
