A new survey says more than three-quarters of people in England and Wales want their council to have more power over local high street planning.

More than three-quarters of people in England and Wales want their council to have more power over local high street planning to prevent ‘unsightly' clusters of similar shops, a new survey suggests.

A Local Government Association/ComRes poll showed 88% of respondents believed the clustering of the same types of shops had a negative impact on the high street – with sex shops, strip clubs and book-makers being of particular concern.
