Cohesion is ‘core to what we do in local government', the president of senior officers' group Solace, Robin Tuddenham, has stressed as religious hate crime recorded by police in England and Wales reached a record high.

Latest figures showed there were more than 7,100 such offences recorded by forces across the two nations – excluding the Metropolitan Police – in the year to March, up 3% from the previous 12 months.
