Salary: £70,878 - £80,421 per annum Full time, temporary for 2 years. The scope and the scale of our commercial ambitions make this senior appointment a pivotal one in our management team. South Norfolk Council's focus is not simply on commercialising services, although there is plenty to do in this respect. Our aim is to build and embed a commercial culture that actively supports our commitment to providing public services for those who need them most. Our Commercial Director will be an exceptional business builder and team player who can define and deliver an innovative commercial development programme. They will empower and enable our teams to step up to the challenge of developing innovative models of service delivery. Our expectation is that, across a wide ranging and evolving portfolio of commercial services, income generation and profit delivery will be recognised as a key part of the way we fund our services. We will expect candidates to demonstrate a clear track record in building successful businesses from the ground up and have the breadth of vision to identify opportunities where they may not currently exist. We are looking for a rounded professional who can develop strategy, research and write business cases and then support and mentor the development of our operational and commercial capacity. A key part of this role is to bring to South Norfolk Council the commercial expertise that drives successful businesses – from market awareness and customer insight, to a focus on performance based management and financial literacy. Key to our entrepreneurial approach is to ensure we can maintain and protect front line services that matter to our residents most. Central to the role will be the ability to balance the need for a commercial drive across services whilst balancing this with our public sector ethos, ensuring services continue to reach out to, and are accessible by, different groups within our local communities with their different needs and drivers. South Norfolk Council is a pragmatic and ambitious organisation which wants to invest in delivering exceptional public services into the future. Changing the game in terms of how that service delivery model is funded is where the payback will come for our Commercial Director. If you believe you have the experience and expertise to play a key role in transforming South Norfolk Council, we want to hear from you!
