The Audit Commission has announced plans to create a new Office for Housing Standards, if it was to become the regulator for social housing. ‘We would bring together the best elements of existing regulatory and inspection regimes across the housing domain, while looking to streamline processes and deliver enhanced value for money,' said Audit Commission chief executive, Steve Bundred.
