The information commissioner, Christopher Graham, has said ‘the time is now right' for ministers to make hundreds more public bodies subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FoI).
Mr Graham's comments followed a speech by deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, on 7 January, during which the Liberal Democrat leader floated plans to widen the scope of the FoI Act, under which citizens can request a huge range of information and documents held by public bodies and quangos.
