Many expected Reform UK to try and turn Durham Council upside down as soon as it took control after May's local elections.

Party leader Nigel Farage welcomed Reform's string of victories across the country by warning staff working in diversity and climate change initiatives at the north east council to seek ‘alternative careers very, very quickly'.
