After last year’s horrific terror attack in Southport, Sefton Council has been working tirelessly to rebuild trust and unity across the borough. Chief executive Phil Porter speaks to Dan Peters about how the authority is shaping a stronger, more connected future.

It was a piece of good news that has largely been lacking for Sefton Council in the last 18 months.

Last month, the Government confirmed it would provide full funding – estimated at around £20m – to restore Southport Pier, a historic Victorian structure that has been closed since December 2022 over safety concerns.
