Government complaint handling has been lambasted as ‘inconsistent, haphazard and unaccountable' by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.

In her first report into how government departments and other public bodies offer redress to members of the public, Ann Abraham found that the lack of overall standards increases the likelihood of ‘the same mistakes being repeated again and again across government.'
