‘Concerned’ local government secretary Steve Reed has vowed to ‘take action’ to tackle ‘profiteering’ in parts of the sector.

‘Concerned' local government secretary Steve Reed has vowed to ‘take action' to tackle ‘profiteering' in parts of the sector.

In a letter to council leaders, he said it was ‘not acceptable' that costs were continuing to rise, particularly in services for vulnerable people like the ‘fundamentally broken' children's social care market, where some accommodation providers have been making average profits of 23%.
