The public accounts committee (PAC) has urged the Department for Work and Pensions to ensure providers to its flagship £5bn Work Programme add real value in securing work placements.

A PAC report issued on 15 May also seeks assurances that third sector sub-contractors are treated fairly and harder-to help claimants among the 3.3 million people set to be helped over the course of the five-year scheme are not parked and ignored.
