Conference delegates shouldn't party like it's 1999

Party conference season should be a time to grasp new skills, not reminisce about the ‘good old days’, says Ben Eggleston.

This week it has been the turn of Brighton to host further heated discussion on the fiscal and demand pressures facing local government.

The discussions taking place during party conference season are unlikely to change the commonly held view that, for the foreseeable future, councils will continue to be faced with the challenge of doing more for less.
