A consultation to local authorities has been launched to find new incentives to promote economic wellbeing. Following on from the Lyons review, the Treasury and DCLG wants to find ways for every council to take a lead role in encouraging economic development by strengthening the link between growth in a local area and its local business tax base. Treasury secretary, Angela Eagle, said: ‘Together, we can work to promote regeneration and sustainable economic growth in each area and across the nation.'
