Opposition councillors have demanded a motion of no confidence in the leader of Cornwall Council amid an ongoing row over plans to create a £300m joint venture.
Cllr Alec Robertson, the authority's Conservative leader, faces the potential no confidence vote at a meeting on 16 October, after one-third of the authority's members suggested he should stand aside Deputy leader of the Liberal Democrat group, Cllr Alex Fokes, said the move reflected widespread opposition to the county cabinet's plan to part-privatise key services – despite full council voting against the idea.
