Corporate Director: Adult and Community Services

Suffolk is a unique county. With its mix of large towns, beautiful coastal villages and rural communities Suffolk has an individual culture with a strong sense of place and community. As a council, Suffolk has an impressive record of performance, achievement and innovation and is currently assessed as one of the most efficient county councils in the country.

This coupled with the opportunities afforded by a successful broadband bid, a new enterprise zone, the 2012 Olympics, tourism and a real commitment to partnership working across the public sector, make Suffolk an exciting place to be.

Sustaining and building on this success and seizing these opportunities does not come without significant challenge - not least the need to achieve major financial savings over the next 2 years against a backdrop of increased demand for resources and service transformation.

Set within this context Suffolk needs two unique people. The Chief Executive is now seeking exceptional Corporate Directors to provide the leadership, vision and determination to support the council through its next phase by delivering a vision based on excellence, cost efficient services, partnership working and listening to the people of Suffolk.

As a Corporate Director, you will bring significant experience and a proven track record of strategic leadership, delivery in large complex organisations and significant experience of either Adult Social Care and Community Services or Children and Young People's Services. Just as importantly you will have the creativity and determination to get things done. You will be able to work in partnership within and beyond the immediate sector, to inspire and be able to ‘take people with you'.

These are major roles in both scale and challenge. These appointments also present the opportunity of a lead role in taking a major authority to a new phase in its development and contributing to the wider transformation of the local public services.

For an informal discussion, please contact our advisors at Veredus; Jonathan Clark on 020 7932 4269 or Steve Guest on 020 7932 4308.

Closing date: 10 February 2012.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. CRB checks required for relevant posts. Suffolk County Council - welcoming diversity.
