Corporate Director of Environment and Enterprise

A vibrant hive of cultural diversity and history, Harrow was named Best Achieving Council at the MJ Awards in 2011. Regeneration and the quality of our environment are high on our agenda and we are determined to create the right climate to enable economic growth and narrow the gap for the most disadvantaged within the borough.

Following a corporate restructure, we are now seeking a visionary Corporate Director to help deliver the Borough's regeneration plans whilst further improving on the high standards of environmental services that Harrow's residents now expect.

Our ambitious £1billion regeneration programme combined with our target to achieve 3,000 new jobs and 2,800 new units of housing in the Heart of Harrow is exciting, high profi le and attracts significant attention from the business community and residents.

Our environmental services play a very important role in the quality of life in Harrow. Residents consistently tell us that keeping the borough clean, green and safe is their top priority. In addition to a recycling level above 50%, our innovative partnership with the Police keeps crime low and has delivered many exciting initiatives. But we want to get even better.

We are looking for someone with the passion, creativity and drive to succeed and energise the workforce. Whilst you need to understand the local government context and bring senior experience from some of the services, we are more interested in your leadership approach and track record of managing change and creating successful relationships with partners and stakeholders.

For further information on this unique opportunity, please contact Penny Ransley on 020 7426 3962 or Martin Tucker on 0121 644 5708 or visit our website.

Closing date: Midday Monday 14th May 2012.
