Do you want to make a real difference to the quality of life of some of the most vulnerable people in our communities? This post is an opportunity to bring your skills, experience and knowledge to achieve just that.

As the lead professional for social work and social care in the council, you will strategically lead and manage our Social Care team. Actively supporting organisational change, you will bring proven experience to leading local safeguarding procedures and practices.

You'll lead, motivate and performance manage all social services staff and develop, implement and co-ordinate policies/plans that meet the needs of our residents. You'll be committed to working in partnership to achieve high quality social services and have a first class knowledge of emerging statutory or regulatory requirements. Strategic in your thinking and politically aware, you will have outstanding leadership and partnership building skills, together with the ability to work effectively with elected members. You will also have an understanding of the needs and challenges presented by communities in a deprived area.

You'll need to hold a recognised and relevant professional qualification and most of all need to care passionately about the services that we deliver.
