London Assembly members have warned that parents in the capital risk being locked out of employment by ‘eye-wateringly high' childcare costs.

A report by the assembly's health and public services committee, published on 22 February, claims childcare costs in London are up to one-third higher than anywhere else in the UK – an average of £119 a week for a child aged under two years.
