Cotswold DC's principal accountant, Alan Jones, has retired after 44 years in local government.

A native of Lancashire, Mr Jones began his career as an auditor with the local authority in Blackpool and, after a period spent with Macclesfield DC, he joined Cotswold DC as an internal auditor in 1978.
