Council benefits jobs lost to DWP staff

Civil servants at the DWP will be handed the first opportunity to secure posts created to administer the Universal Credit.

Civil servants at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will be handed the first opportunity to secure posts created to administer the Universal Credit (UC) – at the expense of council housing-benefit staff.

The Local Government Association (LGA) lamented that the situation has arisen because council staff lack job-transfer protection.
