Shropshire Council has defended its track record on consultants, after it revealed it has spent less than 0.2% of its annual budget this year on hiring external help.

Figures published by Shropshire Council on 21 February claimed the authority has spent £619,000 on consultants over the 10 months in the current financial year, which is the equivalent to 0.12% of its gross annual budget.
