~Bradford City Council~ has become the first local authority in the country to make the Sunday Times' coveted ‘best companies to work for' list. The council made the top 20 of the best large companies to work for, alongside other organisations such as KPMG and Cadbury Schweppes. It was praised for having a strong sense of family, and in a survey 71% of staff, said colleagues went out of their way to help each other. The list is published every year and Bradford is the first council to be included. ‘We are delighted that we have won a place on the list,' said interim chief executive ~David Kennedy~ ‘But we do not intend to sit on our laurels. We shall continue to drive up customer satisfaction using a wide range of approaches.' The council has introduced a series of initiatives to motivate staff, including a training scheme for those who want to help in local schools, job swaps, a nursery and flowers for successful teams. ‘Looking after our staff is absolutely vital to providing good customer services,' added Mr Kennedy.
