Wansbeck DC is planning to fight back after a long-serving local government officer fired for bullying was awarded £60,000 in compensation. Nigel Fisher was sacked for gross misconduct in April last year after 23 years at the council. The former community services manager was accused of bullying and harassing a female member of staff. However, an employment tribunal in Newcastle ruled he was unfairly dismissed this year and he was awarded £60,000 compensation. A council spokesman said it was ‘extremely disappointed at the original decision of the tribunal' and ‘had not ruled out the possibility of asking the judge for an oral hearing to have the matter reconsidered'.
