A council has been warned it must take immediate steps to cut costs, including ‘reshaping' its workforce and making more use of digital technology.

Separate reviews of North Tyneside Council by the Local Government Association (LGA) and Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) stressed the council could no longer rely on savings to tackle a recurring deficit of £12m to £14m per year.
