Plans to join up two council workforces, which were drawn up with Capita, look set to get the green light this month. Adur DC and Worthing BC will vote at separate meetings this month, on 23 July and 25 July respectively, on whether or not to merge their management teams and workforces. The preliminary business case, which was drawn up with Capita, estimated that the two West Sussex councils could save £500,000 a year. Two management teams will be merged into a single group, over a two-year period, with three strategic directors and 10 executive heads of service, and a single chief executive. Adur DC's chief executive Ian Lowrie, has also been Worthing BC's interim top officer since December 2005. Councillors in Adur will also meet this week to discuss whether to go over to a cabinet system, bringing it in line with Worthing BC. Worthing and Adur will remain as two separate councils, keeping their own set of accounts and their own councillors.
