Three-quarters of young councillors are struggling to hold down a full-time job and perform their civic duties, according to a new survey by the New Local Government Network (NLGN). The NLGN has also published a new pamphlet warning that the Government must to do more to encourage young people to stand as councillors. ‘Young councillors are the lifeblood of local government, and local government needs to retain their talents to give it a future,' said pamphlet author, Anthony Brand.
