Councillors from across the UK have joined forces with their European counterparts to support the ailing motor industry. As car manufacturers in the UK struggle to survive the recession, local councillors are hoping to push for an EU-wide strategy to offer support to the motor sector. English councillors, including Sir Albert Bore from Birmingham City Council, Flo Clucas from Liverpool City Council, and Martin Heatley from Warwickshire CC have joined 47 local and regional councillors from the rest of Europe in a new cross-party group focused on the car industry crisis. Cllr Sir Albert Bore said: ‘Knowledge and expertise of local and regional authorities can be brought into play'.
