Councils collect accolades Council tax collection rates in England have improved for the sixth year in a row, according to new figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government. Councils collected £18bn in 2005/6, which was £32m more than the previous year. The figures represent 96.8% of the £18.6bn which is collectable.
