The Government is set to clampdown on councils failing to meet legal duties to children with special educational needs (SEN). Children's secretary, Ed Balls, has accepted recommendations from a Lamb inquiry review which calls for a ‘shift' in the way schools and local authorities work with parents of children with SEN. Mr Lamb urged the Government to make the system ‘more transparent, with greater consistency across local authorities and the education sector'. Mr Balls said: ‘A significant shift is needed to improve the interaction between parents and carers, and schools and children's services on the other.'
