Communities secretary, Eric Pickles, has told councils ‘nothing is off the table' while ministers and town halls consider their response to the summer riots.

But, speaking at the Local Government Association summit on the riots last week (see page 1, The MJ, 27 October), Mr Pickles warned that any councillor who still blamed August's disturbances on public spending cuts were living in ‘cloud cuckoo land'.
