The last post has been sounded by a Scottish council which has banned councillors from sending leaflets to residents in a bid to cut costs. West Lothian Council has stopped mailouts after deciding that flyers were poor value for money. The decision is expected to save £10,000 a year. The council is currently looking to make £45m in budget cuts.
