Town halls are gearing themselves up for a future round of deep, multi-year budget cuts – despite latest research indicating that austerity foist upon the sector since the recession has already triggered change on an ‘unprecedented scale'.

A study published on 10 November by consultant, KPMG, reveals that councils have, ‘almost universally', experimented with new models of organisation and service delivery since austerity measures were introduced.
