Councils are on track to tackle a government-run national flu pandemic preparation exercise in February. In August, the Cabinet Office's civil contingencies secretariat urged councils and businesses to ensure planning for a possible pandemic was in place by November, and local table-top exercises were carried out in the new year. Liz McIntosh, of the civil contingencies secretariat said: ‘Planning for the exercise is on track, and we are happy with the way things are progressing in the run-up to February.'
