Councils should focus on shared interests to promote community cohesion, according to Ealing LBC chief executive and Commission on Integration and Cohesion chair, Darra Singh. Mr Singh said the overall picture was positive, but former navy chief Admiral Sir Alan West called at the weekend for people to ‘snitch' on suspected terrorists ‘We do not underestimate the scale of the challenge and across government we have been stepping up our efforts to isolate, prevent and defeat violent extremism,' said a DCLG spokesman.
