Councils get raw deal on adverts, claims LGiU

LGiU has reported councils are not getting value for money from their annual spend on public notices in local newspapers.

Councils are not getting value for money from their estimated £70m annual spend on public notices in local newspapers, a leading think tank has reported.

A survey of 110 authorities conducted by the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) reveals newspaper groups charge town halls more than three times the going rate for other advertisements when publishing statutory notices.
