Councils need to step up and get a grip on CSE

There has been political inaction across the major parties on child sexual exploitation, spanning central and local government – and it must not be allowed to continue, says Heather Jameson. 'Thus far the issue has been a political football for point scoring at a national level.'

Sunshine is the best disinfectant. And, if ever there was an issue that needed more sunlight, sexual exploitation is probably it. 

Baroness Louise Casey – who has always been a champion of local government – has released her latest review of the grooming gangs scandal, highlighting the ‘collective failure' to address some of the real issues, not least the ethnicity of the men involved.
