Councils could act as negotiators for local residents seeking money-saving deals on fuel, energy and broadband purchases, a leading think-tank has suggested.

A report by the New Local Government Network, published on 22 July, urges local authorities to act on their residents' behalf by bulk-purchasing energy, for example, from providers, to secure advantageous prices.
