An award-winning partnership between Lincolnshire CC and Mouchel is set to continue until 2015, after a contract extension was agreed. It is thought the council will save £28.5m over the next six years. Since the partnership began in 2000, the council says it has freed-up £47m. With council budgets under increasing pressure from the Government to deliver efficiencies, and locally, due to the credit crunch, initiatives which deliver big savings are being moved up council agendas. The integration of Mouchel and IT group HBS played a significant part in the extension agreement, said council leader, Cllr Martin Hill. ‘We are a rapidly-improving and ambitious council, and the integration of Mouchel and HBS has been significant for the future development of the Lincolnshire partnership. We will work together with Mouchel to improve working practices and value for money for Lincolnshire people.' Mouchel delivers a range of services for the council, including HR, IT, finance, property and catering. In June 2008, the council and Mouchel won the Public Private Partnership Award in The MJ local government achievement awards. Its focus on public sector contracts has also made the company a firm favourite in the City, because its financial performance has continued successfully, despite the credit crunch. Phillip Wade, Mouchel partnership director, added: ‘Mouchel is committed to partnership working, service excellence and sustainable growth in service to the public sector. Our partnership thrives on shared risk and rewards, an open and supportive working style, and constantly challenging ourselves to do the best job for the citizens of Lincolnshire. ‘In difficult financial times, we are happy to be securing a base of jobs which support the communities we serve.'
