The North's economic opportunity is compelling. We have the research strength, industrial expertise and clusters with growth potential to drive up the UK's productivity. This can help solve the economic and fiscal challenges that the chancellor acknowledges, but the Government is currently falling short of addressing.
Earlier this year, the Northern Powerhouse Partnership published Innovation for Impact, a report showing just how large the opportunity could be if we built an innovation system that genuinely works for the North.
