The Whitehall union representing tax officials has hit back at a damning report by a Parliamentary spending watchdog which claims authorities are losing the battle against tax avoidance.

A Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report issued on 26 April called on the Government to ban, as 'a ridiculous conflict of interest', the secondment of experts from the 'Big Four' accountancy firms to advise HM Revenues and Customs (HMRC) on changes to tax law.
