The face of housing provision will never be the same, even after the post-credit crunch recovery, homes chief, Sir Bob Kerslake, told SOLACE delegates last week. The new chief executive of the Homes and Communities Agency, which officially launches in December, said the organisation was already planning for the ‘upturn', but warned: ‘We won't come out looking as we do now. Attitudes to home ownership will change. ‘We will need a broader base of providers, an intermediary between social housing and owner-occupation.' Sir Bob admitted many housing schemes were in the balance, that ‘financial drivers' had stopped working and that Section 106 agreements were no longer being agreed as a result. Sir Bob will be keynote speaker at an MJ/NSA conference in December on housing and the credit crunch. Details from the Neil Stewart Associates website.
