Cumberland Council is using £11.83m of rescheduled exceptional financial support (EFS) to fund a voluntary redundancy programme expected to cut between 300 and 400 staff.

Cumberland Council is using £11.83m of rescheduled exceptional financial support (EFS) to fund a voluntary redundancy programme expected to cut between 300 and 400 staff.

Ministers approved moving the funding from 2025-26 into 2026-27, where it forms the backbone of a balanced budget.
