The leader of Cumbria CC, Cllr Eddie Martin, has invited his peers at the county's six district councils to discuss the idea of creating a new unitary authority.
‘What I am proposing is that local councils start a discussion about working together to achieve unitary status in our area, in whatever form that will take,' said Cllr Martin.
