This week's utterly gratuitous piece of celebrity shoe-horned into the plimsolls of local government comes courtesy of Olympic diving star Tom Daley when the Plymouth Herald ran a news story on 1 April claiming the local lad was planning on standing as a candidate for directly-elected mayor at Plymouth City Council.
The article has since disappeared off the internet, which leads MJ Diary to suspect that the date the article was posted and its validity may not be entirely unconnected.
