After an exceptionally mild winter local government is left with a huge stock pile of road salt - I well remember the outrage when authorities ran out of grit.We appear now to have the opposite - flack for making appropriate & proper provision for what was forecast as a hard winter period. After an initial feeling of indignation I became much more phlegmatic about it & decided that I would rather be living in a country that held its elected representatives to account for the decisions it made - rightly or wrongly - than a country where that process was not possible:And for clarity the Daily Star is not a paper I usually take.
