Mid Devon DC has asked the Government for permission to fund a redundancy programme from the sale of its assets. Acting chief executive, David Ablett, told councillors last week that they needed to find £1.2m to balance next year's budget, which could be met from capital receipts. Mr Ablett said the council was expecting a response from the Government Office of the South West by the end of the month. He could not confirm how many members of staff would be made redundant.
