DCLG director Prout leaves to take top transport post

The DCLG's most senior policy official, David Prout, will leave Eland House in the new year.

The DCLG's most senior policy official, David Prout, will leave Eland House in the new year, to take up the challenge of delivering the Government's controversial High Speed 2 (HS2)rail project.

Mr Prout, currently DCLG director general of localism, enjoys a long-established reputation as one of Whitehall's best local government minds. He has held the post since 2009.
