Aaron Services and Kier Support Services have signed a £55m deal with Lincoln City Council to upgrade 8,000 council homes. The council has to bring all its homes in line with the Government's decent home standard by 2010. ‘We are delighted to have the opportunity of working in Lincoln,' said Kier managing director, Dave Sheridan. ‘Our approach to these programmes is to ensure the customer is at the heart of everything we do. ‘We will therefore involve, listen and shape the service around the needs of the local communities to provide a first-class service to tenants.' Kier Support Services will install new kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors and rewiring in the homes. Aaron Services will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and replacing central heating systems and boilers, where necessary. The work is due to start with a pilot scheme in Hartsholme in July. The council's own workforce will continue to be responsible for day-to-day repairs.
