Democratic Services Manager

£42,543 - £45,192 p.a.

Post No: CS0010

It's all about Life Style.

Tendring is a high profile, innovative Council which is prepared to make a difference. Working on national pilots, such as Community Budgets and Families with Complex Needs, we are already showing that we mean business. Excellent relationships with outside organisations and growing partnerships with businesses throughout the world have enabled us to create an environment of growth and development.

Meeting the diverse needs of the people of Tendring, and providing a safe and attractive place to live, is key to our vision for the future – instilling pride in the community, the opportunity to prosper and provide a better visitor experience.

Managing and supporting the Council's democratic and decision making arrangements demands a first class manager, skilled in all areas of democratic service, and confident when working with senior managers and Councillors.

A substantial record of achievement in democratic services, overview and scrutiny management and/or elections management will provide you with the expertise to deliver a modern, professional and responsive service. You will be flexible and comfortable with change and able to take a leading role in delivering major projects such as a planned review of the Council's decision making arrangements, the introduction of rolling electoral registration and the imminent Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services, and responsible for democratic services, overview and scrutiny support, elections, Member Support and the Chief Executive's office, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your managerial skills and to play a key role at the heart of the Council. Post No: CS0010

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Martyn Knappett, Head of Corporate Services, on 01255 686501.

Closing date: 30 March 2012.
