Communities and Local Government has disputed claims from the chairman of the Local Government Association over the Planning Bill. Sir Simon Milton said he feared big projects, including ‘eco-towns', could be fast-tracked through the planning system after approval from a new infrastructure planning commission without local approval. A CLG spokesman said: ‘These claims are wide of the mark and we strongly dispute them. We have a planning system that is fair and fast, with more say for councils and communities.'
